Quitline is a free, confidential Tasmanian telephone - based support service designed to help smokers quit smoking. For the cost of a local call, you can request a free Quit Pack or receive advice about quitting from a staff member who can help you to develop a personal quit plan and provide ongoing support throughout the quitting process. You can call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to request a quit pack, or for personal assistance 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday.

What does this look like for young people?

Quitline offers a range of services to help you quit such as:

  • Information about quitting

  • Support for people wanting to quit

  • Free Quit Packs

  • Advice about various quitting products and methods

  • A free personalised call - back service to assist you through your quitting process

  • Advice for family and friends of smokers

  • Resources to help you quit

What happens when I call the Quitline?

When you call the Quitline you will be asked if you would like to speak with one of the Quitline staff members. If you don't want to talk to anyone, and would just like the Quit Pack you will be asked for the following details:

  • Your name and address in order to send you a Quit Pack by post

  • Your year of birth

  • How you heard about Quitline and

  • If you identify as being Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander

If you do want to speak to someone who can support you, you will be placed on hold to see if there is anyone available. If staff are busy on other calls they will take your details and arrange to phone you back. They will then ask for your name and number and the best time to do this.

During your first call with a Quitline staff member you will be asked if you would like ongoing support/phone calls as you go through your quitting journey, this is called the call back service.

QuitTxt sends you several messages each day. They’re designed to help you prepare to quit, maintain your motivation and help you stay on track after you quit. QuitTxt gives you useful advice wherever you are on your quitting journey.

What does this look like for young people?

QuitTxt is free. All you need to do is register here and complete a brief questionnaire.

QuitTxt and QuitCoach share the same login details. If you have already joined QuitCoach log in using your user name and password.
